 Eminent domain/property impacts likely if San Mateo shuts down Poplar Ave. freeway ramps & moves them to Peninsula Ave.

Hi Burlingame & San Mateo neighbors, an update that the City of San Mateo is holding a  study session Tuesday 9/4  at 5:15pm to further discuss Project Option 15 –install new southbound US 101 ramps at Peninsula while closing the southbound ramps at Poplar..

It looks like here are quite a few businesses per the map above that will be impacted in particular on the frontage road.

There is a lot of background with this project spanning back several years, the jist is that in the name of “progress”, the City of San Mateo & Caltrans feel it’s ok to take property (specifically businesses not sure if residential properties are still on the chopping block) to make way for cars.  Hmmm, so much for their plans of creating more public transit friendly communities….

It’s so critical to be involved in local projects during the planning stages.
