Toy drive in San Mateo County

San Mateo County residents invited to ‘Stuff the Cruiser’

If you’re looking for a chance to help struggling Bay Area families this holiday season, here’s an opportunity to do that. The Colma Police Department is hosting a “Stuff the Cruiser” toy drive Saturday, Dec.. 7, 1-5 p.m. The event is taking place at the Serra Center shopping mall, 970 Junipero Serra Blvd. The toy drive will contribute to the San Mateo County Children’s Fund Holiday Gift Program.

The police department’s patrol cruiser will be parked near the Target store. The object is to “Stuff the Cruiser” with donations of new, unwrapped toys. These toys will go to approximately 3,500 low-income and foster children ranging in ages from newborn to 18 years of age living in San Mateo County during the Christmas season.

This is just one part of the San Mateo County Children’s Fund’s activities to bring Christmas cheer to needy children during the holiday season. The Fund’s 2019 Holiday Gift Program is now busy collecting gifts in several ways. The gifts these children receive through this program are often the only ones they receive for Christmas.

If you are unable to make the toy drive event, you may also drop off toy gifts at the Colma Police Department. It is located at 1199 El Camino Real in Colma.  Additionally, the Children’s Fund offers a way for you to use the group’s Amazon wish list to buy a gift and have it shipped directly to the Children’s Fund.
