Curry Up Now in Burlingame

Bay Area Indian cuisine restaurant celebrating 10th anniversary

The hugely popular Indian cuisine restaurant, Curry Up Now, offers Bay Area residents an “innovative spin on traditional Indian cuisine.” This ever-growing restaurant franchise is preparing to celebrate its 10th year in business Sept. 26 (Thursday)and 26 (Saturday).

Curry Up Now invites customers at their six Bay Area locations to join in the excitement by participating in its festivities and giveaways.  The nearest location to the Burlingame area is an estimated 7-minute drive at 129 South B Street in San Mateo. Additionally, the San Francisco-based Bush Street food truck will participate.

The giveaways begin at 11 a.m. Sept. 26 for guests who visit any of the six locations or the food truck. If the first 100 customers at each location show the cashier that they have downloaded the Curry Up Now app, they will receive a free burrito. Then, on Sept. 28, the food truck will revisit the corner of Howard Avenue and Primrose Road in Burlingame where it first started selling its famous Tikka Masala Burrito. Here the truck will start offering free burritos at noon to customers who have downloaded the app. This offer stands as long as supplies last. Other planned festivities include complimentary henna tattoos and a silent disco.

Humble beginnings to a booming business

Curry Up Now has blossomed significantly since that first food truck roamed Burlingame’s streets in 2009. Now, this purveyor of “Indian fast-casual” cuisine has expanded to include three food trucks and seven “brick and mortar” restaurants in the Bay Area and Atlanta. Not only that, the business has sold more than 40 franchises throughout the country. Those franchises are at various points of development.

Four co-founders took the chain to where it is now. They are Akash and Rana Kapoor, Merisol Ibanez and Amir Hosseini. Akash Kapoor said, “After 10 years and nearly a million Tikka Masala Burritos, we couldn’t be more proud to celebrate this momentous anniversary for Curry Up Now.”
