Welcome to

Sunset District

The Sunset District is one of San Francisco’s largest and most livable neighborhoods, stretching from Golden Gate Park to the Pacific Ocean. Divided into Inner Sunset and Outer Sunset, the area offers a relaxed, community-oriented lifestyle with great local shops, diverse dining, and easy access to nature. Inner Sunset buzzes with walkable commercial corridors and transit, while Outer Sunset delivers coastal charm just blocks from Ocean Beach.

Welcome to the Sunset!

The Sunset District spans the western side of San Francisco, known for its wide streets, classic row homes, and laid-back residential feel. Often split into Inner Sunset and Outer Sunset, each area offers a distinct lifestyle while sharing strong neighborhood pride and everyday convenience.

Inner Sunset, is lively and walkable, centered around Irving Street. Here you’ll find popular coffee shops, bakeries, ramen spots, neighborhood bars, bookstores, and specialty markets. Favorites range from long-standing local eateries to newer chef-driven restaurants, making Inner Sunset a go-to destination for casual dining and weekend brunch. Excellent public transit, including the N-Judah Muni line, provides quick access to downtown and other parts of the city.

Outer Sunset stretches west toward the Pacific and offers a quieter, more coastal atmosphere. Homes are often just minutes from Ocean Beach, making morning walks, sunset strolls, and surfing part of daily life. Commercial pockets along Judah Street, Noriega Street, and Taraval Street feature beloved neighborhood restaurants, taquerias, cafés, and specialty food shops that serve longtime locals and newcomers alike. The vibe is more relaxed, with fewer crowds and a strong sense of community.

Across both Inner and Outer Sunset, residents enjoy proximity to expansive green space, beaches, and scenic walking paths, balanced with practical amenities and authentic local businesses. With its mix of urban convenience, coastal beauty, and neighborhood charm, the Sunset District remains one of San Francisco’s most appealing places to call home.
